Blue Rug Juniper Juniperus horizontalis 'Wiltoni' A very flat and low growing, spreading juniper. Intense silver-blue foliage is tinged with purple in the winter. Grows in full sun or partial shade and has a fairly fast growth rate. 4 - 6’ 6” 2
Dwarf Japanese Garden Juniper Juniperus procumbens ‘Nana’ A ground hugging juniper with stiff, blue-green sprays that ascend at the tips and are slightly purplish in winter. Meyer’s Juniper Juniperus squamata ‘Meyeri’ A semi-upright shape with dense steel-blue foliage. Does best in full sun, but will tolerate some shade. Also tolerates dry soils. 3’ 3’ 5

Siberian Carpet Cypress Microbiota decussata A very soft evergreen shrub that does well in both sun and shade, but prefers a cooler location. There’s a nice specimen growing beneath the pines behind greenhouse #1. Nice coloration in a low spreader - perfect for rock gardens. A low-growing relative of the native cedar. 4’ 1’ 4
Northern Pride Microbiota Microbiota decussata ‘Northern Pride’ This low spreader has branchlets of flattened sprays which resemble cedars and junipers. A good, very fast growing ground cover with light green foliage that turns bronze in winter. Excellent for dry sites in full sun or partial shade. 5’ 8 - 12” 3
Bird’s Nest Spruce Picea abies 'Nidiformis' A dwarf ornamental spruce. Spreading, broad, dense plant with a depression in the center that looks like a nest. Shiny light green needles. Slow growing and very hardy, but will need some burlap to protect against winter sun. Prefers full sun. Does well in most soils. 4’ 2’ 3
Mugho Pine Pinus mugo A mound-shaped pine with multiple leaders and erect branches. Extremely hardy. Grows in sun or partial shade. Prefers moist soil and tolerates roadside salt. The standard mugho pine can become quite large: we generally carry just the dwarf variety. 25’ 15’ 1
Dwarf Mugo Pine Pinus mugo mugo A mound-shaped dwarf shrub pine with multiple leaders and erect branches. Can be kept small by pinching back new growth in late June (candling). Grows in sun or partial shade. Prefers moist soil, but will tolerate most soil conditions. Really really hardy! Perfect for the most difficult sites. 8’ 5’ 1
Japanese Pyramidal Yew Taxus cuspidata ‘Pyramidalis’ A dense yew with a structured shape for small spaces. Just clip lightly in late June to maintain shape. Burlap wrap in winter will prevent wind and sun damage. 4’ 10’ 5
Thayer's Yew Taxus cuspidata 'Thayerae' A dense bushy shrub that thrives in full sun or shade. Slow growing,wide-spreading form, centers are full. Red fruit in fall. 10’' 5' 5
Dense Yew Taxus x media 'Densiformis' A dense bushy shrub that thrives in sun or partial shade. Bushy growing habit. Prefers moist, sandy, well drained soil. In this climate, needs protection from winter sun and wind: burlap covering works well. 5' 5' 5
Hick's Yew Taxus x media 'Hicksii' Columnar form, broader at the base than at the top, with long lustrous dark green leaves, lighter green underneath.Bright red berries are added ornaments during the fall. Very hardy.Grows in full sun or partial shade. 5' 5' 5
White Cedar Thuja occidentalis Probably the most popular hedging plant in Canada. Prefers full sun as it will grow leggy and look ratty in the shade. Makes and excellent windbreak, screening and provides wildlife cover. The best time to prune is in August, when tree is dormant. 10-15’ 40-60’ 2
